The Odyssey Video
Each team rider had one week to film their video part in any city of their choosing. Spots include Canada, LA, Georgia, Utah, Hawaii and many others. Featuring Gary Young, Scott Foster, Mike Aitken, Rich Hirsch, Matt Beringer, Chase Gouin, Martii Kuoppa, Jimmy Levan, Jim Cielencki, Adam Banton and others.

Kevin McAvoy, Transworld BMX march 2004: One thing came to my mind after watching this video: Odyssey is different. Their team is made up of riders with their own unique, creative styles, and their marketing doesn't follow the same tired BMX trends. Their video maintains that philosophy; each of the riders featured was given one week to film their part in the city of their choice. Most video parts are edited from a collection of clips obtained over a long period of time, so that makes the solid sections in this video even more impressive.
Scott Foster may not be a name you're very familiar with, but after you see his section, I'm betting you'll remember his name (even though it strangely doesn't appear anywhere in his part). He nails plenty of bangers in the man-sized concrete parks of Las Vegas. Adam Banton turns in a killer set of clips as well, with plenty of technical tailwhip variations. Chase Gouin and Martti Kuoppa…what can I say? These guys are on the very short list of the best flatland riders ever. No rider personifies Odyssey's drive for individuality better than Jim Cielencki. You won't be sleeping through a barrage of fufanus on his part–you'll be glued to the screen, too afraid of missing something. Gary Young annihilates some Vancouver concrete, and James LeVan and Rich Hirsch (the editor) add their own flavor. Mike Aitken is the closer, and probably should be in every video he appears in from now on. That kid is ridiculous.
In the bonus section, you'll find a time-lapse breakdown of Odyssey's "Photoshop Free" Cielencki pedal magazine ad with Jim Bauer commentating. It's a really cool look behind the scenes at what went into pulling that off. There are also sections on new team rider Matt Beringer and the European team. Although there are some filming and editing quirks that seem to be getting to me the more I watch it, I like this video a lot.

Odyssey Euro Tour '04
Jeff Zielinski, www.ridebmx.com, may 2005: Roadtrip videos are a gamble; you never really know what's going to happen. In Odyssey's case the team encountered lost bikes and injuries, which might help explain why this video doesn't have the level of riding you'd normally expect from Odyssey's roster of heavy hitters. Granted there is some good stuff, but nothing really mind blowing. The feel of the trip comes through with the help of a lot of scenic footage and plenty of shots of Euro ladies, too! The soundtrack is composed entirely of female vocalists and spans a diverse range of musical genres, which I think was a great idea. In conclusion, I think this video would have been a great bonus feature for a full-length video, but as a video by itself, I think it's a little weak in the riding department. euro tour 04
