Jerry DeJongh, december 2005: I am the racer on the cover, voted most improved rider 1976 by the NBA and having a record of over 200 victories ( inc. NBL). That year I may have a novice plate (# 47) but I also raced expert class many times against such riders as John George, Byron Friday, Bobby Encinas, etc due to the fact there were not enough riders for my class. That photo was taken at the Encino Velodrome winning my 2nd moto of the evening and my class. Not bad for a kid with no sponsorship of any kind, the only thing wrong with that issue was that they mispelled my name in the credits for the photo.

Chuck Houde, march 2008: #76 was me in 1976. Ernie, Suzanne and Russ Okawa called me the bicentennial kid. In fact, I think Russ actually took this shot. The picture was actually taken at the Velodrome in the SF valley if you remember that. I went on from there to race for Canyon Cyclery then R&R then Schwinn with the Rupes, Greg Hill, Kevin Jackson and Mark Pippin. Good times touring the US together on tour etc.
